CsI scintillation crystal CsI scintillation crystal use Cesium Iodide as matrix material and could be divided into the dopant, CsI(Tl), CsI(Na) and pure CsI, which are all Colorless transparent cubic crystal. They have characteristics such as high density, high average atom number, and high detective efficiency to γray and X ray. The crystal is cleavage absent and could be made to detectors of various shapes. It’s widely used in the industrial field such as high-energy physics、nuclear physics、space physics、baggage security check、container inspection.
Properties and application characters of CsI(TI) crystal are as bellow: 1. Low afterglow makes it can be used in ray security check equipment. 2. Good uniformity and high radiation hardness make it apply to high-energy physics test. 3. Low radioactive background makes it apply to low background tests such as neutrino detection. 4. Its emission spectrum can match well with SPD so that the read out system can be simplified, it has the advantages of small volume、low voltage and interference immunity to magnetic field. 5. The emission peak is located at 550nm, the scintillator of CsI(Tl) has the maximum light output when it matched to silicon photodiode.
